When she was born, your little peanut was as bald as a cue ball—but gorgeous nevertheless. Over the months, you’ve watched as her sweet-smelling little scalp sprouted peach fuzz, which grew into real hair, which evolved into darling curls, which soon needed to be restrained with a barrette. Next came pigtails—short and stubby and sticking out above her ears at first, then longer and more flowing. Now? Now it’s halfway down her back, difficult to wash in the bath, and she complains when you comb it. Time for her (gulp!) first haircut.

Bring your little girl or boy to Haircuts for Peanuts, a salon especially for children, where they will treat those silky tresses with TLC. Today’s Less Daily Deal will let you get that haircut, or hair-care products developed especially for children by Fairy Tales Haircare, for mere peanuts. A $30 gift certificate is just $15 if you take advantage of this fantastic deal—that’s two children’s haircuts for the price of one!

Haircuts for Peanuts is staffed by caring stylists who love children and who know how to make them feel comfortable. Haircuts for PeanutsI’m a little slow on the uptake with this one but I really wanted to be able to include photos of the new location and just could never remember to bring my camera, but I was determined to update my previous post about Haircuts for Peanuts. The playroom, err I mean waiting room

In case you missed my previous post, Haircuts for Peanuts specializes in haircuts for children, and the occasional adult.  Although they prefer to only do childrens hair I like to get my hair cut there too because my kids can play in the waiting room while I get my haircut and I don’t have to worry about what they are getting into.

Waiting room I found Haircuts for Peanuts about 3-4 yrs ago after trying to get the kids hair cut at Supercuts(that didn’t work so well)  I will never go back.  My girls just love Ms. Aprile and get very excited about going to get their haircut.  The experience starts in the waiting room which is bright and colorful with huge murals on the walls, and of course filled with toys for the kids.  They even have a TV with game system for older kids.  Also they have a popcorn machine for the kids.

They have 4 different stylists that are specially trained to deal with children.   All of their hair stylists are trained by licensed speech and occupational therapists and are very familiar with the techniques in dealing with children with special needs For example, they have toys used especially for autistic children at each hair station and they have learned special techniques for calming children down when they get upset.

They have different rooms to have your hair cut, each decorated in a different theme and has TVs so your kids are completely distracted from what is going on.  The cuts are quick and cute.  Girls can have ribbons put in their hair for free if they like.  And each child gets a quarter to pick a treat from the vending machine after their haircut, and a free balloon.  For us, we make it part of our day, we are in no hurry so we can stay and play in the waiting room after we finish.  The kids just love it there.

Their new location is in Perinton Square Mall  6720 PITTSFORD-PALMYRA RD., FAIRPORT, NY 14450 New location

They are open Monday through Friday: 9am to 7pm
Saturday – Sunday: 9am to 4pm

They have cut as young as 3 weeks old on up.  Haircuts cost $15, and they can wash hair which is an additional $7 and needs to be requested when making your appointment.  Walk ins are welcome but appointments are preferred.

One way to save money is with their Haircuts Club card.  It costs $150 it lets you get 12 haircuts for the price of 10!  To purchase this card you have to pay cash so come prepared.  For individual haircuts you can charge it but they do prefer cash or check.

Haircuts for Peanuts Waiting Room

Haircuts for Peanuts Waiting Room

I never thought my toddlers or even preschoolers would enjoy getting their haircut so much.  But then I found Haircuts for Peanuts and Ms. April(as we call her).  It’s over in Fairport, which is fortunately around the corner from my mom’s.  They cater to children of all ages.  It starts as soon as you walk into their waiting room which is beautifully painted with large murals of circus scenes and is filled with toys for the kids to play with while they wait their turn.  There is a slide, play kitchen, and even an air hockey table.  And of course nice chairs and magazines for the parents.

Then when it’s your turn you go into one of two rooms to have your haircut by either April, Judy, or Crystal.

The rooms are colorfully painted and decorated in themes geared towards the kids.  I always ask for April because she is so good with our girls.  Her room is green with large butterflies and frogs on the walls, which the girls just love pointing out to me every time we go.  There are tvs and dvd players in each of the rooms and a huge variety of movies they can pick from so they are distracted from what April is doing.  They have cartooned aprons for the kids and animal water bottles for wetting their hair.  April is very patient and a pro at getting them to follow her instructions.  The cuts take about 10-15 minutes so it’s quick, letting the kids go before they start to squirm.

I find it so funny when I tell the girls that we are going to go get their haircut, they jump up and down with

excitement!  They can’t wait to go to Ms. April’s.  I will make it into an event since they always want to stay and play with the toys after getting their haircut.  So Katrina goes first, then Mikayla, and then me.  Yep I get my haircut there too now.  It’s just so much easier than making a separate appointment somewhere else and either drag the kids along or waste precious kidfree moments getting my haircut.  The girls play in the waiting room or just hang out and watch mom get her haircut.  If one of the girls has to use the bathroom Ms. April understands and lets me run off with them before resuming my haircut.  When we are all done I will read my book and let the girls play til they are done before we head on to whatever we have to do next.

I just love what April has done in creating this business and I think it’s a great idea for other moms to make as their own business.  In addition to haircuts they also host BeDazzling birthday parties on weekends.  You can check out their website for more info Haircuts for Peanuts
